THE NEWS SERVICE OF FLORIDA: Crist ‘Still Studying’ Workers’ Comp Bill

May 13, 2009

Gov. Charlie Crist said Wednesday that he’s “still studying” a bill that would restore a limit on what plaintiffs lawyers can be paid in workers compensation cases.

The bill was among the top priorities this year in the Legislature for a business community worried that a Supreme Court finding last year that the previous limit was unconstitutional would result in dramatically higher workers compensation insurance rates.

Crist, who announced this week that he’s running for U.S. Senate instead of seeking another term as governor, has been non-committal of the legislation (HB 903).
