Matt Scarfone is a Shareholder at Colodny Fass and his practice focuses on complex insurance matters and commercial litigation. Licensed to practice law in both Florida and Michigan, he represents clients in a vast array of industries, including insurance, forensics, consulting, marine services, and telecommunications.
Matt is a certified Continuing Education Instructor in Adjuster Law and Policy with the Florida Division of Insurance Agent and Agency Services. He often speaks at conferences and continuing education seminars on emerging issues affecting the insurance industry and has represented insurance trade groups as amicus curiae in appellate matters involving issues of broad industry significance.
In his insurance practice, Matt has experience representing insurers and other insurance-related entities across various lines of insurance, including property and casualty, liability, professional liability, errors and omissions, marine, and transportation/logistics. He frequently handles high-stakes disputes involving coverage issues, bad faith, fraud, and class actions. Matt is often asked to counsel insurers on coverage issues and litigation strategies, and to defend complex losses. He also assists clients in drafting and revising policy language, streamlining operations, and consulting on claim investigations.
In his commercial litigation practice, Matt handles complex matters involving breach of contract, negligence, intentional interference, defamation, business torts, statutory claims, and other legal and equitable causes of action. He has experience defending complex litigation including multi-party disputes, class actions, and multi-district ligation. Attention to detail and focused litigation strategy set Matt apart as your go-to lawyer when the stakes are high and results matter most.
