Rebecca M. Canseco is an associate in the litigation practice group at Colodny Fass where she handles cases involving first-party property claims and other insurance litigation matters. 

Ms. Canseco started her legal career working in a large general liability and property insurance department at a regional insurance defense firm. She has defended insurance carriers and their insureds in numerous types of cases, including claims involving construction defects and product liability claims.

For the last several years, Ms. Canseco has focused her practice on defending insurance companies in first party property claims. Ms. Canseco recently served as second chair trial counsel in a wind-related claim that resulted in a complete defense verdict. With an undergraduate degree in psychology, she utilized her skills in jury selection, which proved to be critical to the success of the case.  Ms. Canseco has a deep understanding of the Florida insurance statutes and has used that to her advantage to obtain dismissals of cases involving invalid assignment of benefits of insurance benefits. 

Ms. Canseco obtained her Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude. In her time at Nova, she was a Senior Associate in the ILSA Journal of International and Comparative Law and a member of the Transactional Law Competition Team. In addition to extra-curricular activities, Ms. Canseco also clerked for various firms, including a large insurance subrogation practice. She is also a member of the Florida Bar Association and the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division.

A Cuban-American South Florida native, Ms. Canseco received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Florida International University. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her loved ones and three dogs—a Dachshund and two Corgis.
