Repeals Proposed for Application Procedures for Insurers Seeking to do Business In Florida

Jun 28, 2017

Written comments are being accepted until July 19, 2017 on the proposed repeal of two Rules relating to Application Procedures for Insurers Seeking to do Business In Florida (Chapter 69O-136, F.A.C.), the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (“OIR”) advised in a Notice of Proposed Rule issued today, June 28, 2017.

The two Rules are:

69O-136.002                       Foreign and Alien Insurers Filing for a Certificate of Authority

69O-136.006                       Domestic Insurers Filing for an Application for Permit

The OIR explained in its Notice that these two Rules adopt various Forms used for issuing Certificates of Authority to insurers, and that Rule Chapter 136 is being streamlined to eliminate duplication, as well as being updated to provide for electronic filing and adoption of Forms that are currently in use by the OIR.

Further, the two Rules are being repealed as part of the re-organization and streamlining of the Rule Chapter.

A Rule Hearing has been tentatively scheduled for July 26, 2017 at 10 a.m. (ET), should a member of the public request it.
