NAIC Public Adjuster Working Group Reviews Comments Submitted on Draft Advisory, Outreach Documents

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ (“NAIC”) Public Adjuster Working Group (“Working Group”) met yesterday, November 27, 2017, to review submitted public comments on the following documents relating to the hiring of public adjusters:

(1) Insurance Industry Advisory

(2) Advisory for Home Improvement Contractors

(3) Public Adjuster Consumer Outreach Notice

The original draft documents, along with a White Paper from the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters on the Unauthorized Practice of Public Adjusting, are attached for review.

Part of the NAIC’s Property and Casualty Insurance Committee, the Working Group is tasked with reviewing issues related to the unauthorized practice of public adjusting and making recommendations as may be appropriate. 

The Working Group will not meet at the upcoming NAIC 2017 Fall National Meeting, but its report will be considered for adoption during the Property and Casualty Insurance Committee meeting, of which Florida Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier is Vice Chair.
