Louisiana Legislature Passes Surplus Lines Rate and Form Exemption Bill

A bill providing that approved unauthorized insurers delivering surplus lines insurance in the State of Louisiana would not be required to file or seek approval of their forms and rates was passed by the State Senate on June 2, 2010 and signed today, June 3, by the Speaker of the House, Jim Tucker. 

The bill, House Bill No. 285 by State Representative Kevin Pearson, must now go to Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal for consideration.  It will become law with his signature or lapse of time for action.
