Florida’s Citizens Property Insurance Publishes 2017 Depopulation Calendars

Florida’s Citizens Property Insurance Corporation (“Citizens”) published its 2017 Personal Lines and Commercial Lines Calendars today, September 29, 2017, noting that special attention should be paid to the new assumption schedule for each line of business.
Personal Lines assumptions will be held in the months of February, April, June, August, October, November and December. Information regarding the new procedures for the Personal Lines assumption process, “Policyholder Choice” is forthcoming.
Commercial Lines assumptions will be held in the months of January, March, May, July, September and November.

While Citizens expects its policy count to hold steady in 2017 at just under 500,000 policies, it projects another 65,000 policies to be assumed during the remainder of 2016–22,500 of which are wind-only policies.
