Florida Workers’ Compensation Drug Repackaging Bill (SB 662) Sent to Governor Rick Scott

Jun 3, 2013

SB 662 by Senator Hays was signed by Senate President Gaetz and House Speaker Weatherford and presented to Governor Rick Scott today, Monday, June 3, 2013.  Governor Scott has until Tuesday, June 18, 2013, to sign, veto, or allow the bill to become law without his signature.

SB 662 would cap the amount of reimbursement allowed under the workers’ compensation law for repackaged pharmaceuticals.  The cost of repackaged drugs would be capped at 112 percent of the average wholesale price plus a $4.80 dispensing fee.  The bill represents a compromise between business groups and dispensing physicians and passed both the House and Senate unanimously during the last week of the 2013 Regular Session.
