NAIC Valuation Method Principles-Based Reserve Reporting Subgroup Meeting

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (“NAIC”) Valuation Method Principles-Based Reserve Reporting Subgroup of the Life and Health Actuarial Task Force will meet via teleconference on Monday, August 17, at 2:00 p.m. (EST) to discuss Valuation Method-50:  Experience Reporting Requirements.  The registration call-in number is:  412.317.6715.

 

NAIC Statistical Subgroup Meeting

The NAIC Statistical Subgroup of the Casualty Actuarial and Statistical Task Force will meet via teleconference on Monday, August 17, at 2:00 p.m. (EST) to discuss Part A of the Guideline for Implementation of Medical Professional Liability Closed Claim Reporting.  The registration call-in number is:  412.317.6715.

OIR Rule Development

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (“OIR”) has issued a Notice of Rulemaking Development regarding Rule 69O-170.0155, entitled “Forms.”

Because the My Safe Florida Home program has concluded and is no longer offering free home inspections or mitigation grants, the proposed Rule amendments would, in part, revise the following form:

  • OIR-B1-1655:  Notice of Premium Discounts for Hurricane Loss Mitigation references to the My Safe Florida Home program would be removed.

Amendment of the following form also has been proposed:

  • OIR-B1-1802:  Uniform Mitigation Verification Inspection Form revisions would incorporate terminology commonly used in the construction industry to describe the construction features to be inspected and to require the inspector and homeowner to verify that the inspector actually conducted the inspection.

If a Rule Development Workshop is requested in writing and not deemed unnecessary by the agency head, one will be held at the date, time, and place shown below:

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation has issued a Notice of Rulemaking Development regarding Rule 69O-170.0144, entitled “Public Hurricane Loss Projection Model Fee Schedule.” 

The proposed Rule would amend the current statutory fee schedule for residential property insurers to access and use the Florida Public Hurricane Loss Projection Model.  To view the current fee, click on the Rule number above.

OIR Rule Hearing

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation has issued a Notice of Proposed Rule regarding Rule 69O-156.020, entitled “Prohibition Against Use of Genetic Information and Requests for Genetic Testing.” 

The proposed Rule would adopt model revisions required by the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 to the NAIC Model Regulation to Implement the NAIC Medicare Supplement Insurance Minimum Standards Model Act.

OIR Rate Hearing for Citizens Property Insurance Corporation

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation has scheduled a public rate hearing for Citizens Property Insurance Corporation (“Citizens”) on Tuesday, August 25, 2009.  To view the public rate hearing Notice, click here.

Citizens has requested rate increases for its Florida homeowners, dwelling, fire and commercial residential multi-peril insurance programs.  The effective date of the proposed rate increases would be January 1, 2010 for new and renewal business.  The requested rate increases are not uniform and some areas of the state would be subject to higher rate increases than others.
