Political Veteran Sandy Harris Tapped for Broward Days Growth

Sandy Harris, Broward Days Interim Executive Director

When Broward Days’ new Chairman Mike Colodny sought to enhance the administration of the longstanding non-partisan advocacy group, he tapped a well-known leader whom many consider to be perhaps the most ubiquitous and unifying presence in Broward’s tumultuous political arena:  Sandy Harris.

Best known for her longstanding tenure as former Executive Director of the Broward Legislative Delegation, Ms. Harris will serve as Broward Days’ Interim Executive Director on a volunteer basis as the non-profit expands on its forward momentum and programming, especially its return to Tallahassee in 2015.

“I can’t think of anyone more suited to breathe new life into Broward Days than Sandy Harris,” Chairman Colodny said.  “Her long history of legislative knowledge and experience in providing advocacy training makes her a natural to convene legislators, Broward Days participants and sponsors, with highly productive results for all.”

As the former Governmental Affairs Director of the South Broward Realtor Association and the Realtor Association of Greater Fort Lauderdale, Ms. Harris developed an understanding of the infrastructure that sustains and grows Broward’s economy, making it attractive to tourists, residents and businesses alike, such as education, transportation, environment, health care and other issues-all of which are subject to legislative consideration on an annual basis.  Since retiring from the Broward Delegation in June 2013, she has served local legislators as a non-partisan advisor.

“I’m especially looking forward to working with our Broward Days Issues Teams as they map out the plan for our return to Tallahassee in 2015, ” Ms. Harris said.  “It’s in this community format that the best ideas always come to light.”

A former Board Member of ChildNet, Ms. Harris now chairs the FLITE foster youth training organization and is a graduate of Leadership Broward (Class XXIII).
