Payment Methodology for Nursing Home Services Rule Hearing Report: November 18

Nov 19, 2008

The Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration held a Rule workshop on November 18, 2008 to discuss proposed changes to Rule 59G-6.010:  Payment Methodology for Nursing Home Services.  The purpose of the proposed Rule is to incorporate changes to the Florida Title XIX Long-Term Care Reimbursement Plan, Version XXXIV, with an effective date of July 1, 2008.  To view a copy of the Notice and proposed Rule text, click here.

Concern was expressed by audience members regarding proposed changes to Section IV:  Standards regarding interim rate adjustments.  The proposed changes provide that rate adjustments shall be granted to reflect increases in the cost of premiums if the change in premium and payment cost is at least $5,000 and would cause a one percent or more change in the provider’s total per diem rate.

Audience members requested review of the legislative intent for the proposed changes, stating that a rate increase should not solely reflect increases in the cost of premiums.

The record will remain open until November 25, 2008.
