News Release: Governor Rick Scott Appoints Five to Fifth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission

The Office of Florida Governor Rick Scott issued the following news release on September 21, 2011:

 

 

Governor Rick Scott Appoints Five to Fifth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission

 

Tallahassee, Fla. – Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the reappointment of Michele L. Lieberman and the appointments of W. James Gooding III, Brian D. Hudson, Darryl W. Johnston and Del G. Potter to the Fifth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission.

Michele L. Lieberman, 42, of Inverness, is a self-employed attorney and general counsel for Technology Conservation Group Inc.  She is reappointed for a term beginning September 21, 2011, and ending July 1, 2014.

Lieberman has been a sole practitioner since 2007 and general counsel for Technology Conservation Group Inc. since 2010. Previously, she was the chief assistant attorney for Citrus County from 2002 to 2007.  A member of the Citrus County Bar Association since 2005, she served as president from 2005 to 2006 and secretary from 2007 to 2009.  Lieberman received her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and her law degree from Stetson University College of Law.  She is appointed from the list of nominees submitted by the Florida Bar.

James Gooding III, 55, of Ocala, is a partner at Gilligan, King and Gooding P.A.  He succeeds George Angeliadis and is appointed for a term beginning September 21, 2011, and ending July 1, 2015.

Gooding has served as the assistant city attorney for the City of Ocala since 1995. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.

Brian D. Hudson, 33, of Wildwood, is an attorney practicing with McLin Burnsed P.A. since 2003.  He succeeds Earl Peterson and is appointed for a term beginning September 21, 2011, and ending July 1, 2014.

Hudson has been a member of the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors since 2010. He received an associate degree from Lake-Sumter Community College, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and a law degree from Florida State University College of Law.

Darryl W. Johnston, 48, of Brooksville, has been practicing with the firm Johnston and Sasser P.A. since 1991.  He succeeds Raul Carreras Jr. and is appointed for a term beginning September 21, 2011, and ending July 1, 2015.

Johnston has held a variety of positions with the Hernando County Bar Association, including president and secretary. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and his law degree from Stetson University College of Law. Johnston is appointed from the list of nominees submitted by the Florida Bar.

Del G. Potter, 63, of Mount Dora, is a partner with Potter Clement Lowry and Duncan, practicing with the firm since 1972.  He succeeds Meredith Kirste and is appointed for a term beginning September 21, 2011, and ending July 1, 2014.

Potter is a certified civil mediator. Previously, he was an assistant state attorney with the Fifth Judicial Circuit from 1975 to 1985 and served on a Judicial Nominating Commission in 1984. He is a member of Lake County Bar Association, serving as president from 1977 to 1978, and the American Bar Association. Potter received his bachelor’s and law degrees from Florida State University. He is appointed from the list of nominees submitted by the Florida Bar.
