Nebraska Department of Insurance Director Bruce R. Ramge Advises Sickness and Accident Insurance Carriers on Revision Requirements for Medical Information Bureau Authorization Forms

Nebraska Department of Insurance (“NDOI”) Director Bruce R. Ramge advised all sickness and accident insurance carriers that the Medical Information Bureau has issued a requirement for its member companies to amend their authorization forms to add the following new language by January 1, 2013:
“I authorize [Company Name] or its reinsurer to make a brief report of my personal [protected] health information to MIB, Inc. [or MIB, or Medical Information Bureau].”
The NDOI has determined that any form revised solely to comply with the aforementioned language requirement does not have to be submitted to the NDOI for review and approval.
