Louisiana Department of Insurance Issues Two Post-Gustav Emergency Rules

The Louisiana Department of Insurance has issued two Emergency Rules regarding the suspension of certain statutes and regulations related to policy cancellations, non-renewals, reinstatements, premium payments, claim filings and related provisions of ” . . . any and all insurance matters affecting insureds in Louisiana caused by Hurricane Gustav.”

The Emergency Orders, made official on September 10, 2008, were issued to all Louisiana insurers, health maintenance organizations, surplus lines carriers and any and all other entities doing business in Louisiana and/or regulated by the Louisiana Commissioner of Insurance and the Louisiana Department of Insurance.
