Louisiana Department of Insurance: All Authorized Insurers and HMOs Must File Anti-Fraud Plan Between January 1 and April 1, 2011

Mar 30, 2011

Effective December 30, 2010, all authorized insurers and all health maintenance organizations (“HMOs”) licensed in the State of Louisiana must file an Anti-Fraud Plan between January 1 and April 1, 2011.

Insurers that may have filed an Anti-Fraud Plan prior to January 1, 2011 must re-file with the Louisiana Department of Insurance (“LDI”).

Additionally, between January 1 and April 1 of every year, each licensed insurer and HMO must file a supplementary report with the LDI regarding its Anti-Fraud Plan, as well as an annual summary report of its suspected fraud referrals for each preceding calendar year.  The first of these reports is due between January 1 and April 1, 2012.

The LDI’s Advisory Letter Number 2010-02, a copy of which can be viewed by clicking here, provides further details on the filing requirement.
