Governor Crist to President Bush: Declare State of Emergency for Florida

Aug 20, 2008

Florida Governor Charlie Crist sent a Memorandum to President Bush today, August 20, 2008, requesting that an Emergency Declaration be made for the State of Florida retroactive to August 18 as a result of widespread damage from Tropical Storm Fay.

Assignment of the Emergency Declaration would facilitate the provision of supplementary federal funding and assistance for disaster conditions such as flooding and wind damage that are now prevalent throughout the State.

A copy of Governor Crist’s Memorandum is attached for your review.
