It was reported at the Annual Membership meeting that as of December 31, 2006, FWCJUA had 3,207 policies in force with a corresponding written premium of $35.5 million, and 1446 authorized producers.  FWCJUA recognized a $48.8 million surplus in 2006, with a deficit in one of its subplans.

The FWCJUA Board of Governors met immediately following the annual membership meeting.  After a review of the various committees, recognition of the service of its prior Chair, the Board then proposed the 2008 quarterly meeting schedule for the following dates: March 11, 2008, June 10, 2008, September 9, 2008, and December 9, 2008.

The Board of Governors next reviewed the impact of Senate Bill 1894 and House Bill 7169.  The most significant impact of Senate Bill 1984 is that it mandates changes in the Board appointment process, as well as the disposition of FWCJUA funds on dissolution.

Additionally, passage of Senate Bill 1984 made it essential for the Legislature to also enact House Bill 7169, which grants limited public records and public meetings exemptions to the FWCJUA.

The meeting then proceeded with the election of FWCJUA officers and the presentation of reports from the various committees.
