FPCA Homeowners Division Member Comments Requested On Current Wind Mitigation Credit System By August 11

The Florida Commission on Hurricane Loss Projection Methodology (“Commission”) has requested comments from interested parties on Florida’s current insurance premium wind mitigation credit system.

On Wednesday, August 12, the Commission will hold the first in a series of yet-unscheduled future meetings to receive public testimony and data regarding the implementation of windstorm mitigation discounts, credits, rate differentials and appropriate deductible reductions.

The Commission is scheduled to meet from 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. on the following days:

  • Wednesday, August 12
  • Thursday, August 13

As result of House Bill 1495 becoming law on June 1, 2009, the Commission is required to review insurance premium mitigation credits and present a report on its findings to Florida Executive and Legislative leadership by February 1, 2010.
