Florida Governor Rick Scott Appoints Two More People to Florida Polytechnic University Board of Trustees

The Office of Governor Rick Scott issued the following news release on November 5, 2012:

 

Governor Rick Scott Appoints Two to Florida Polytechnic University Board of Trustees

Tallahassee, Fla. – Governor Rick Scott on November 5, 2012 announced the appointments of Joseph L. Caruncho and Robert W. Stork to the Florida Polytechnic University Board of Trustees.

Joseph L. Caruncho, 54, of Miami, has been the CEO of Preferred Care Partners since 1998. Caruncho has served on Florida International University’s Board of Trustees, Foundation Board, College of Business Dean’s Council, and Center for Leadership Advisory Council. He received his bachelor’s degree from Florida International University and his law degree from Nova Southeastern University. He is appointed for a term beginning November 5, 2012, and ending June 30, 2014.

Robert W. Stork, 60, of Vero Beach, is the CEO of Communications International Inc.  Stork serves on the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council and the Florida Technology, Research, and Scholarship Board. He received his Associates Degree in Electronics from the United Electronic Institute and is a certified EMT from Indian River Community College. He is appointed for a term beginning November 5, 2012, and ending June 30, 2014.

The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. 

Senate Bill 1994, which established Florida Polytechnic University as part of the State University System of Florida, provides that the Board of Trustees be comprised of 13 members.  The Governor appoints five members and the Board of Governors appoints five.  The chair of the faculty senate and the president of the student body are also members of the Board of Trustees.

Other gubernatorial appointments to the  Board of Trustees include:

Chairman Robert H. Gidel; Vice Chairman R. Mark Bostik; Scott Hammack; and Kevin Hyman.  Their terms began on July 13, 2012.

The Board of Governors previously appointed Dr. Sandra Featherman; Dr. Richard “Dick” Hallion; Frank Martin; and Don Wilson for terms beginning on July 16, 2012.
