FIGA and FWCIGA Joint Audit Workgroup Approves Audit and Accounting RFP

Jan 15, 2010

A Joint Audit Committee Workgroup (“Workgroup”) of the Florida Insurance Guaranty Association (“FIGA”) and the Florida Workers’ Compensation Insurance Guarantee Association (“FWCIGA”) met via teleconference on Friday, July 15, 2010 and voted to approve a Request for Proposal (“RFP”) for auditing and accounting services.

The chosen firm would provide auditing and accounting services for FIGA, the FWCIGA and the American Guaranty Fund Group (“AGFG”), which is the service company created to provide management services for FIGA and the FWCIGA.

The Workgroup voted to approve the draft RFP with minor changes.

The final RFP will be issued early next week with responses due in 30 days.  Any questions from interested firms must be submitted in writing within a week of issuance and the questions and answers will be shared with all firms that have expressed interest.

The contract term will be for three years, ending December 31, 2012.

The Workgroup will meet again via teleconference on February 26, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. to review proposals and determine how to proceed with the evaluation process.

For the past six years, the contract has been held by Thomas Howell Ferguson, P.A.

Both the FIGA and the FWCIGA were created by the Florida Legislature to provide a mechanism for payment of covered workers’ compensation claims in order to avoid excessive delays in payment and financial loss to claimants because of the insolvency of a member insurer.
