DFS Rule Workshop: Mediation Procedures for Personal Lines Claims from 2004-2005 Hurricanes and Tropical Storms

The Department of Financial Services (“DFS”) held a workshop today, Tuesday, January 29, 2008 on Proposed Rule 69J-2.003, F.A.C. entitled “Mediation Procedures for Resolution of Disputed Personal Lines Insurance Claims Arising from the 2004 and 2005 Hurricanes and Tropical Storms.”

Tom Valentine, Senior Attorney with DFS presided over the workshop. The Proposed Rule’s purpose is to define terms used in Section 627.7015, F.S. and specify what information must be submitted by an insured in order to initiate mediation.

There were no public comments on the Proposed Rule at the workshop. Mr. Valentine noted the record will be held open for fifteen (15) days for written comments on the Proposed Rule. a copy of which is attached for your review.
