The Seibels Bruce Group Announces Upcoming Retirement of President Mike Culbertson

Company begins search for replacement to lead its expansion in insurance, technology, and BPO services markets

COLUMBIA, SC (October 22, 2012) – The Seibels Bruce Group, Inc. (Seibels), a trusted and proven provider of insurance, technology, and business process outsourcing (BPO) services, today announced the upcoming retirement of president Mike Culbertson.  The retirement date has yet to be determined, as Mr. Culbertson will continue in his current position while the company searches for his successor.  Once the new president is named, Culbertson will assist in the transition and offer ongoing guidance to the operation, remaining involved with Seibels in an ombudsman capacity.

Mr. Culbertson’s Seibels career spans 38 years, including his promotion to president in November, 2002.  During his tenure as president, he guided the company through its transition to become a premier insurance, technology, and BPO organization.  With an unwavering focus on integrity and delivery of quality services, Mr. Culbertson oversaw the day-to-day Seibels operation, enabling Seibels’ customers to focus on their core insurance operations with confidence that the services outsourced to Seibels would be delivered with consistency and excellence.

Commenting on his time with Seibels and upcoming retirement, Mike Culbertson said, “It has been a long and immensely gratifying career with Seibels.  I am proud of all that we have accomplished and look forward to continuing to help Seibels in the next stage of growth.  I appreciate the support of the staff, the executive team, and the board over the years, and especially the loyalty of the Seibels client family.  I am also looking forward to continuing to give back to the community through my involvement in church-related ministry and charitable work.”

Rex W. Huggins, Chairman of Seibels Board of Directors, added, “From his days as a key member of the  claims services group to his position as president, Mike has been an integral contributor to Seibels’ success over the years and we are grateful for his service.  This is an exciting time for Seibels to take advantage of a changing marketplace, and we appreciate Mike’s willingness to stay on during our search for his replacement, which will start immediately.  As insurers continue to seek cost-effective, alternative approaches to business processing and technology, we believe the BPO market provides the answer to many of the challenges they face.  Seibels is well-positioned to help drive this market expansion and to significantly grow our market share.”

The search for the new president is underway, with Seibels looking for a proven executive and leader to spearhead the company’s aggressive growth strategy.  Leveraging the company’s proven success in the BPO market, Seibels’s strategy is focused on increasing its market footprint through the introduction of new service offerings, delivery of new and modern technology platforms, and the recent establishment of a Project Management Organization and appointment of a Chief Information Officer.

With the addition of these new disciplines, Seibels will continue its current efforts to offer BPO services to assist start-up insurers in catastrophe-prone areas, while expanding its presence among U.S. midsize property and casualty insurers.
