RE: Chinese Drywall

Dear Admiral Galson,

To date, 549 “cases” of Chinese drywall in 30 Florida counties have been reported to the Florida Department of Health. Quotations surround the word cases because the data is self reported and the actual number of cases may be higher.

Many Floridians, some literally in our backyard, are forced to move out of their homes for fear of damaging health effects. Others would like to repair their property, but must stay in their homes because they cannot afford the cost of paying both a mortgage and hotel bill during this economic recession.

I understand that you are facilitating the investigations of the infected Chinese drywall. I have been informed by the office of Governor Charlie Crist that Florida can expect results of your investigations by mid-October. I write today to encourage you and your team to produce these investigative reports as soon as possible so that our state and our people can rapidly move forward in resolving this horrendous problem.

If there is anything my office can do to assist your efforts, please do not hesitate to contact me. Also, I ask you to keep me and the public informed of any progress made in regards to this issue as, understandably, our constituents need hope and they need answers.

Sincerely,

KEVIN J. G. RADER,
State Representative
District 78
