Jan 4, 2007

The House of Representatives Insurance Committee announced yesterday that it plans to workshop its recently released Proposed Committee Bill (PCB) relating to property insurance at its meeting next Thursday, March 16, 2006, at 1:00 p.m.

A copy of the PCB and a summary of the PCB is here and here.

The Insurance Committee also announced that it plans to address Personal Injury Protection Insurance at its meeting during the third week of session, which will take place on March 23, 2006.

The Committee reported three bills favorably from the Committee, including a bill requiring motor vehicle repair shops to carry $300,000 of liability insurance, a bill relating to health care service policies and contracts, and a bill relating to continuing care provider minimum liquid reserve requirements.

The Committee temporarily postponed House Bill 837, which allows life insurers to issue policies with binding arbitration provisions.

We will continue to monitor the House Insurance Committee meetings and provide updates accordingly.
