Feb 7, 2008

South Florida Sun-Sentinel–Feb. 7, 2008

South Floridians angry about the high costs of homeowners insurance will be able to sound off to a congressional panel that will take testimony at a hearing in West Palm Beach.

U.S. Rep. Ron Klein, D-Boca Raton, has announced that the House Financial Services Oversight and Investigations subcommittee will conduct a hearing on insurance issues at 1 p.m. Monday. The meeting takes place at the sixth-floor County Commission Chambers in the Palm Beach County Governmental Center, 301 N. Olive Ave.

The hearing will focus on the insurance industry’s coverage of catastrophic natural disasters, the companies’ refusal to write new policies in coastal areas and the impact those decisions are having on communities.
