Senate Governmental Oversight and Accountability Committee Meeting Report: January 15

Jan 15, 2009

On Thursday, January 15, 2009, the Florida Senate Governmental Oversight and Accountability Committee (“Committee”), Chaired by Senator Mike Haridopolos (R-Melbourne), met and heard a presentation from Committee Staff on Interim Issue Brief 2009-325: General Public Records Exemption for Trade Secrets.

Committee Staff recommended adoption of a general exemption for trade secrets or proprietary confidential business information from public record.

Adoption of a general exemption for trade secrets could potentially impact insurers that use credit scoring information in their ratemaking formulas.

Chairman Haridopolos moved to file a committee bill implementing Staff recommendations.
