RECAP: Insurance-Related Legislative Committee Action–Wednesday, April 22

Florida House of Representatives Session

The Florida House of Representatives held Session on Wednesday, April 22, during which it heard the following insurance-related bills:

  • CS/CS/HB 845 relating to Self-Insurance Funds by the House of Representatives General Government Policy Council and State Representative Brad Drake (R-DeFuniak Springs)
    • Update:  CS/CS/HB 845 was read a second time and an amendment was adopted.  CS/CS/HB 845 was placed on the House Calendar for Thursday, April 23, to be read a third time.  To view the most recent bill analysis, click here.
  • CS/CS/HB 453 relating to Tax Credits for Contributions to Nonprofit Scholarship-funding Organizations by the House of Representatives Finance and Tax Council and State Representative Will Weatherford (R-Wesley Chapel)

Florida Senate Session

The Florida Senate held Session on Wednesday, April 22, during which it heard the following insurance-related bills:

  • CS/CS/SB 2252 relating to Professional Liability Claims by the Senate Committee on General Government Appropriations and State Senator Carey Baker (R-Eustis)
    • Update:  CS/CS/SB 2252 was read a second time and two amendments were adopted.  CS/CS/SB 2252 was ordered engrossed and the engrossed text has been filed.  To view the most recent bill analysis, click here.
  • CS/CS/SB 1950 relating to Property Insurance by the Senate Policy and Steering Committee on Ways and Means and State Senator Garrett Richter (R-Naples)
    • Update:  CS/CS/SB 1950 was temporarily postponed on second reading and placed on the Senate Special Order Calendar for Thursday, April 23.  To view the most recent bill analysis, click here.
