New House Council To Address Florida Disaster Risk Management

Among other charges designed to address “Florida’s long-range challenges and opportunities,” the newly-created House Select Policy Council on Strategic and Economic Planning will make recommendations on the “management of risks to the State caused by hurricanes or other natural disasters.”  The new Council is chaired by State Representative Dean Cannon.

The creation of the Council was announced along with a memorandum detailing House council and committee reassignments issued today, February 19, 2009 by the Office of Florida House Speaker Pro Temp Larry Cretul.
