Florida Office of Insurance Regulation Requests Comments on Proposed Revisions to Section of Form OIR-B1-1802 (Uniform Mitigation Verification Inspection Form); Deadline is October 18

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (“OIR”) is finalizing revisions to Form OIR-B1-1802, also known as the Uniform Mitigation Verification Inspection Form.  The OIR has released proposed language for Section 7 of the form, which is entitled “Opening Protection,” and is accepting feedback on the changes, which are printed below.

Please submit any comments you might have on the proposed revisions to Trevor Mask (tmask@cftlaw.com) at Colodny Fass by 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18.

 

 

 

D. Exterior Opening Protection that is Florida Building Code Compliant (other than “A”, “B”, or “C”) All Glazed openings are protected with protective coverings that are FBC compliant but do not meet Answer “A”, “B”, or C” or systems that appear to meet Answer “A”, “B”, or “C” with no documentation of compliance (e.g., unverified shutter systems with no documentation).

  • D.1 Non-Glazed Entry Doors and Garage Doors that are FBC windload-rated and meet the requirements for wind pressure under any of Florida Building Code TAS 202, Miami-Dade PA 202, ASTME 330, or ANSI/DASMA
  • D.2 All Non Glazed Openings have an equal or higher level of protection or no Non-Glazed Openings exist
  • D.3 One or More Non-Glazed Openings have a lower level or no protection
