Florida Governor Rick Scott: Florida is Prepared to Respond to States Impacted by Hurricane Sandy

The Office of Florida Governor Rick Scott issued the following news release on October 30, 2012: 

Governor Scott:  Florida is Prepared to Respond to States Impacted by Hurricane Sandy

In response to Hurricane Sandy’s impact on the nation’s east coast, Governor Scott has contacted the Governors of Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island to offer Florida’s assistance in their recovery efforts.  Governor Scott will continue to contact other affected states to support their response and recovery efforts.

“When one state is affected by a catastrophic event like this, we all come together to ensure the safety and well-being of every American. The Florida National Guard stands ready to help any of the affected states and can offer resources to those who need it. The thoughts and prayers of our state remain with those who have been impacted by this storm as they continue to respond to its effects,” said Governor Scott.

The Florida National Guard currently has two maneuver battalions, which is approximately 1,000 personnel, two CH-47 Chinook heavy-lift helicopters and two C-23 Sherpa transport aircraft available for response efforts. The Florida National Guard is also prepared to conduct transportation, communications, aviation, logistics, security, medical, maintenance and humanitarian assistance operations in support of civilian authorities as requested by the affected states.
