Florida Division of Workers’ Compensation Schedules March 3 Hearing on Claims Chapter

Feb 6, 2014

The Florida Division of Workers’ Compensation (“DWC”) has scheduled a March 3, 2014 Proposed Rule Hearing on amendments to Rule Chapter 69L-3, F.A.C., which relates to workers’ compensation claims.  To view the Hearing notice, click here.

Among other revisions, the proposed amendments would clarify that the filing of paper documents, when approved by the DWC, does not supersede the requirements for electronic submittal of claims information.  Also updated are terminology and contact information.   The revisions would delete an obsolete form and related language, and make additional technical changes.

Specifically, the proposed amendments would effect the following:

  • Revise the Rule Chapter’s title list;
  • Replace the defined term “Claims-Handling Entity” with the defined term “Claim Administrator”;
  • Replace the term “carrier” with “insurer;” and
  • Make revisions to Web sites, e-mail addresses and phone numbers used to contact or make reports to the DWC.

If requested within the specified time period, the Hearing will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Room 102, Hartman Building, 2012 Capital Circle Southeast, Tallahassee, Florida.
