Drivers’ data needed

Oct 4, 2010

The Miami Herald published the following article on October 4, 2010:

Floridians are being encouraged to register an emergency contact with the motor vehicle division under a state government campaign.

The campaign, being championed in Tallahassee this week, is called ”Register Your Emergency Contact Information Week” and it spans Oct. 3 to 9.

The Emergency Contact Information program allows people who have either Florida driver licenses or state identification cards to voluntarily register their emergency contacts.

Only a law enforcement officer can get to the information in a case of an emergency.

The 4-year-old program has emergency contact information for more than 3.7 million Floridians.

Floridians can register the telephone number and home address of up to two people at either a state or tax collector-operated driver license office or online at www.flhsmv.gov/eci.
