Florida House Republicans are scheduled to meet on September 16 to officially designate Richard Corcoran as House Speaker for 2016-2018, the Florida Times-Union’s Tia Mitchell reported today, August 11, 2015.
The ceremony will include a vote.
An election for Florida Senate President has yet to be scheduled. Republican Senators Joe Negron of Stuart and Jack Latvala of Clearwater are both vying for the seat.
Under Florida’s current system of term limits, legislators often run for leadership posts long before they actually hold the positions.
