Broward County Public Schools to Name Top Teacher, Principal, Assistant Principal and School-Related Employee at Combined Recognition Event

The School Board of Broward County issued the following news release on February 13, 2012:

Broward County Public Schools to Name Top Teacher, Principal, Assistant Principal and School-Related Employee at Combined Recognition Event

The District’s new “Caliber Award” will be presented to an outstanding teacher, principal, assistant principal and school related employee at a combined award ceremony to be held Thursday, March 1, 6 p.m. at the Signature Grand, 6900 State Road 84 in Davie.

The combined event replaces the annual Teacher of the Year, ACCLAIM and School-Related Employee ceremonies held in the past.

Finalists are listed below.  A link to biographical information about each finalist will be posted on the District’s website on February 16.

Teacher finalists:

• Jillian Berg, Coral Glades High School
• Jacqueline Carrero, McNicol Middle School
• Alan Leipzig, Seminole Middle School
• Yvonne McDonald, Challenger Elementary School
• Karline Prophete, Pines Middle School
• Joseph Vallone, Plantation High School

Principal finalists:
