ADVANCE: Insurance-Related Legislative Committee Meetings–Tuesday, April 14

In addition to the House Omnibus Insurance Package calendared for the House General Government Policy Council meeting at 1:15 p.m., the following Florida Legislative Committees will consider insurance-related bills on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 as noted (all meetings take place at The Capitol, Tallahassee):

 

SENATE

 

Senate Committee on Community Affairs

The Florida Senate Committee on Community Affairs is scheduled to meet from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Knott Building, Room 412K.  Insurance-related bills on the agenda include:

  • CS/SB 880 relating to Community Associations by the Senate Committee on Regulated Industries
  • SB 998 relating to Condominiums and Homeowners’ Associations by the Senate Committee on Regulated Industries
  • SB 630 relating to Impact Fees/Moratorium on Imposition or Collection by Senator Mike Bennett

Senate Banking and Insurance Committee

The Senate Committee on Banking and Insurance Committee is scheduled to meet from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Knott Building, Room 412K.   The agenda will include the consideration of one insurance-related bill (below), as well as a workshop presentation by InsureNet relating to insurance status verification of Florida motor vehicles.

  • SB 444 relating to Title Insurance by Senator Mike Bennett

HOUSE

 

House Economic Development and Community Affairs Policy Council 

The Florida House of Representatives Economic Development and Community Affairs Policy Council  is scheduled to meet  from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the House Office Building, Room 404.   The agenda includes the following insurance-related bill:

  • HB 135 relating to Public Records/Insured Dependents/Agency Group Plan by the House Insurance, Business and Financial Affairs Policy Committee

House General Government Policy Council

The House Council on General Government Policy is scheduled to meet from 1:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the House Office Building, Room 17.   The agenda includes the following insurance-related bills: 

  • HB 845 relating to Self-Insurance Funds by the House Insurance, Business, and Financial Affairs Policy Committee
  • HB 853 relating to Surplus Lines Insurers by State Representative Pat Patterson
  • HB 1171 relating to Residential Property Insurance by the House Insurance, Business, and Financial Affairs Policy Committee
  • HB 1495 relating to Property Casualty Insurance by the House Insurance, Business, and Financial Affairs Policy Committee

House in Session

The House will hold Session from 1:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.  The following insurance-related bills are scheduled to be considered on third reading:

  • SB 1062 relating to Unemployment Compensation by the Senate Committee on Transportation and Economic Development Appropriations and the Senate Committee on Commerce
  • SB 1432 relating to Insurance Premiums (financing) by Senator Ronda Storms
