We Need Your Help!

Dear Recycler,

We lost the battle in the Senate and House on the Senate Bill 754 (Certificate of Destruction Bill).  Please take the time to ask the Governor to VETO the Bill.  Attached is a Sample Letter that you can use. Please Copy, Paste, Personalize and Physically Mail and also email a letter to the Governor.  Get as many people to do the same. It is up to us to have this Bill vetoed, otherwise it will become Law.

Also, please use social media to share on all of your social sites.

To the Honorable Governor Richard Scott,

The Certificate of Destruction Bill, SB 754/HB 7063, has passed both House and Senate during the 2014 Florida Legislative Session.. While I appreciate the work of the Legislature and my ability to be heard,  I strongly opposed this legislation and ask you to veto it when it comes across your desk.

This bill would weaken the current law, which has been in place for more than 25 years. The current law requires vehicles that have been severely damaged to be branded “un-Rebuildable” and obtain a Certificate of Destruction (CD) if the cost of repairing the vehicle is 80% or more of its retail market value.

My business and employees will be affected in a negative manner if you sign this to Law. Higher salvage prices for the vehicles will reduce the number of vehicles I can afford to purchase, which will reduce my labor force, sales, and income.

Rebuildable Vehicles don’t receive any type of safety inspection, only a paper and visual inspection for theft prevention.

The Florida Panhandle recently had severe flooding. Many of these FLOOD VEHICLES could receive the Rebuildable Brand under this Bill. The Citizens needs to be protected from purchasing a Flood Vehicle because of the electrical problems they will have.

I feel this is a bad bill pushed by companies seeking a financial windfall, and which poses a real threat to public safety. Please VETO this Bill.
