The Texas Department of Insurance (“TDI”) advised yesterday, April 28, 2015, that it is issuing a special data call to obtain information from insurance companies writing direct commercial property and business owners’ coverage in 2014.  The information is being requested to supplement the TDI’s statistical information and enable the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association to calculate participation shares, should assessments be necessary in 2015.

Insurers must respond to this data call no later than May 27, 2015.

Reporting forms can be found on TDI’s Web site at www.tdi.texas.gov/bulletins/index.html.

The following insurers are required to respond:

  • Companies reporting 2014 Texas commercial property or business owners’ statistical data to the TDI’s commercial lines statistical agent, Insurance Services Office, Inc. (“ISO”), under a minimum or limited reporting format that did not include place-code or ZIP code-level detail, or
  • Companies reporting 2014 Texas commercial property or business owners’ statistical data to ISO under a full reporting plan format, but which have not had all four quarters of 2014 data accepted as of February 28, 2015.

Note:  This data call has been mailed only to the companies that are required to respond to it.
