Known throughout the insurance industry for his work with the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI), attorney G. Donovan Brown is joining Colodny Fass, a law and governmental consulting firm serving the United States from dual Florida offices.

During early December 2014, Mr. Brown will transition from PCI to the position of Partner at Colodny Fass& Webb, where he will be based at the Firm’s Tallahassee office directly adjacent to Florida’s capitol.  His practice will concentrate in the areas of legislative, executive and public affairs, insurance regulatory law, administrative law and related matters, transactional law, and corporate counseling and representation.

A former Special Assistant to then-Governor Jeb Bush, and active in state and national politics throughout his career, Mr. Brown most recently served at PCI as Counsel for State Government Relations, a substantial and high-profile position in which he was responsible for legislative, regulatory, public and political affairs in Florida and throughout the Southeastern United States.

“We are convinced that Donovan will be a cornerstone of our firm,” explained Managing Partner Mike Colodny.  “With his experience honed at PCI, one of the world’s foremost insurance authorities, our clients can be assured they are getting the best in insurance regulatory and legislative counsel.”

Mr. Brown, who regularly and actively participates and advocates in national forums and state governments throughout the United States, brings to the Firm established and trusted relationships with regulators, their staff and insurance industry leaders worldwide.   In the course of his activities, he has led and engaged in numerous political and public affairs campaigns dealing with some of the most significant and meaningful policy reforms currently facing the industry.  In addition, he holds leadership positions in various state and industry commissions and boards.

“My work at PCI has entrenched me amid the most significant challenges facing insurers today–ranging from international global regulatory convergence, to state and local political and regulatory impediments to individual company operational efficiency,” Mr. Brown said.  “Colodny Fass& Webb is known nationwide for its deep insurance regulatory bench and state legislative reach.  The opportunity to directly represent and advocate for clients will write a gratifying new chapter in my long-time and productive relationship with this highly respected firm.”

An experienced member of the Florida Bar, Mr. Brown has previously counseled and represented clients on matters pending before legislatures and state executive agencies.  He was also regularly engaged in corporate transactional law, administrative law and other matters requiring motion practice and appearances in court.   Earlier work came in the health insurance industry.

Well-known and highly trusted by local, regional and national insurance, political and other media outlets, he is frequently sought out by both print, broadcast and online news reporters to help assess, analyze and frame pivotal insurance issues.

A graduate of the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law, Mr. Brown earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Communications–also from the University of Florida.  Since, he has been named to Florida Trend’s Legal Elite, among numerous other legal and community recognitions.
