Nearly 789K South Florida homes at risk for storm surge, new study says

South Florida leads the nation with 788,679 homes at risk of storm surge, according a new CoreLogic report.

Hurricane season officially starts on June 1, but Florida got an early soaking from Subtropical Storm Alberto over Memorial Day Weekend. NOAA said this hurricane season is likely to produce 10 to 16 named storms, with five to nine of them becoming hurricanes. 

Parts of Florida are still recovering from Hurricane Irma in September 2017. Even though that storm wasn’t a direct hit on Miami, its storm surge put Brickell Avenue underwater.
