Louisiana Department of Insurance: All Filings Must Be Made Through SERFF As of January 1, 2011

Nov 29, 2010

In a November 23, 2010 bulletin to all insurers and entities submitting rate, rule and/or policy form filings for use in Louisiana, the Louisiana Department of Insurance (“LDI”) advised that, as of January 1, 2011, it will only accept these filings in electronic format through “SERFF” (System for Electronic Rate and Form Filing).

Further, submission of electronic rate, rule and/or policy form filings through “CRAFT” (Complaint, Rate and Form Tracking System) will no longer be accepted.  The LDI assures that this will not affect the complaint process.

Developed by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, SERFF is designed to improve the efficiency of the rate and form filing and approval process, as well as to reduce the time and cost involved in making regulatory filings.
