CS/CS/HB 1381 – Insurance Representatives GENERAL BILL by Policy & Budget Council and Jobs & Entrepreneurship Council and Richter

Insurance Representatives: Provides exemption from required written examination to applicants for licensure as claims adjuster; authorizes specified programs to offer correspondence courses to applicants for licensure as life insurance agent; authorizes specified programs to offer correspondence courses to applicants for licensure as health insurance agent; authorizes licensed agents to be agent in charge of branch locations; requires public adjusters to maintain surety bond unimpaired for specified period; authorizes extension of time to complete continuing education requirements for public adjusters; designatese DFS as agency responsible for disciplinary action against public adjusters; makes DFS responsible for approval of surplus lines agent manual; revises requirements for identification of insurers, agents, & insurance contracts; specifies absence of liability & prohibits causes of action against agents for insolvency of specified entities; requires DFS & FSC to adopt rules prohibiting use of unfair & deceptive practices in sales of insurance to members of U.S. Armed Forces.
