Juvenile Justice Prevention Programs Senate Update Rescheduled

Jan 25, 2008

On Thursday, January 24, 2008 in the Senate Criminal Justice Appropriations Committee (“Committee”), the Florida Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability (“OPPAGA”) was scheduled to give a presentation entitled “An Update on Prevention Programs in the Department of Juvenile Justice.” The Committee is chaired by Senator Victor Crist (R-Tampa).

However, due to some Committee members’ illness, the presentation has been delayed until the week of February 4th.

OPPAGA will discuss three main findings:
1. DJJ should improve the way it identifies at-risk youth.
2. Evidence-based programs could improve prevention effectiveness.
3. Funding practices do not support the development of sustainable and effective programs.
