House Jobs & Entrepreneurship Council to Hear Proposed No-Fault Bill April 20

Apr 17, 2007

With the Florida’s no-fault insurance laws slated to sunset this October if no new legislation is enacted, the Florida House of Representatives has recently released a draft of a proposed committee substitute that we expect will be taken up in the April 20 (Friday) House Jobs & Entrepreneurship Council.

A draft of the bill is attached for your review.

The bill allows Florida’s no-fault law to sunset and replaces it with a $15,000 provision for acute care benefits, which would provide emergency care coverage.

Of note, Section 13 in the proposed draft states that Florida Statutes Section 627.428 relating to attorneys fees shall not apply to any claim under emergency care coverage.
