Scott to jobless:  You’ll work for benefits

Among the items in Gov. Rick Scott’s legislative priorities for the coming session is a message for people receiving unemployment compensation in Florida: you’ll have to work for it.

Scott, whose campaign promise was to bring 700,000 jobs to the state over seven years, proposed mandatory retraining for residents getting state unemployment assistance, says Bloomberg News.

“Rather than continue to simply pay out benefits for those out of work, Florida must focus its efforts on ensuring that it can offer the most able workforce in the nation,” Scott said in a Wednesday statement about his legislative agenda.
