FPCA Homeowners Division: Public Adjuster Bill Amendment Feedback Requested

FPCA Member feedback is requested on the attached proposed agent licensing amendments, which may be included as part of FPCA-promulgated public adjuster bills by Florida Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) Alex Sink.
The aforementioned public adjuster-related bills are below. Please click on the bill number to view the complete text and information.
HB 1239 Relating to Insurance Representatives by Representative Long and SB 2176 Relating to Unfair/Deceptive Insurance Trade Practices by Senator Smith would subject public adjusters to solicitation restrictions similar to those imposed upon attorneys. The CFO’s amendments would, among other things, revise the term “agent” to include property, casualty, life, variable life, and variable annuity agents.
