Florida Senate Leadership, House Committee and Subcommittee Assigments for 2013 Legislative Session Announced

In separate announcements today, November 26, 2012, Florida’s legislative leaders named key Senate leadership positions and House of Representatives committee and subcommittee assignments for the 2013 Florida Legislative Session.

In the House, State Representative Bryan Nelson will continue to lead the Insurance and Banking Subcommittee, with State Representative Bill Hager as Vice Chair.  The House Economic Affairs Committee will be chaired by State Representative Jimmy Patronis, with State Representative Tom Goodson as Vice Chair.

In the Senate, President Don Gaetz named Senator Lizbeth Benacquisto as Majority Leader and former Senate President Tom Lee as Deputy Leader and Whip.

President Gaetz also appointed Senator Jack Latvala as Chair of the Senate Committee on Ethics and Elections, and Senator Joe Negron as Chair of the Senate Committee on Appropriations.  Senator John Thrasher, whom he dubbed as “Lion of the Senate,” will continue to chair the Senate Committee on Rules.

Remaining Senate leadership positions, as well as committee assignments, will be announced soon.

The 2013 Legislative Session begins March 5, 2013 and runs through May 3, 2013.
