Florida Senate District 28 Special Primary Election Set For June 30

May 18, 2009

Florida Governor Charlie Crist issued an executive order today, May 18, regarding a special election to be held in Florida Senate District 28.  A primary election is scheduled to be held on June 30, 2009, to fill the seat being vacated by State Senator Ken Pruitt (R-Port St. Lucie), who is retiring on August 4, 2009, in advance of the end of his term in November 2010.  A general election will be held on August 4.

“It’s been a successful journey and now it’s time to go home,” Senator Pruitt told The News Service of Florida earlier this month.  The senator has served in both chambers of the Florida Legislature for a total of 19 years.

Executive Order 09-118 is attached.
