Florida Office of Insurance Regulation May Issue Uniform Mitigation Verification Inspection Form Guidance Document

Aug 27, 2010

Through informal conversations with Florida Office of Insurance Regulation officials, Colodny Fass has learned that the agency may plan to issue an instructional document on the Uniform Mitigation Verification Inspection Form (“Form OIR-B1-1802”) to provide guidance in response to insurance industry concerns with ambiguities regarding the application a completed Form OIR-B1-1802 to corresponding wind mitigation credits.

The document will be forwarded as soon as it becomes available.

The OIR has scheduled a Rule Development Workshop on September 22, 2010 at 9:30 a.m to update Form OIR-B1-1802 to reflect 2010 statutory changes and other related issues.   The Form, which is regulated by Rule 69O-170.0155, entitled “Forms,” is used as part of conducting inspections upon which mitigation-related insurance premium discounts are calculated.
