Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty announced today, October 6, 2011, that Michelle Robleto will join the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation as Deputy Insurance Commissioner for Life and Health Insurance.

Florida Office of Insurance Regulation Welcomes New Deputy Insurance Commissioner
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty today announced the addition of Michelle Robleto to the Office’s senior staff. Ms. Robleto will serve as the new Deputy Insurance Commissioner for Life and Health Insurance.
“Michelle Robleto is a consummate professional with an outstanding reputation in the health insurance industry, and as a public servant for the State of Florida,” remarked Commissioner McCarty. “I am confident she will be a strong addition to our team who will provide the leadership we need to navigate difficult issues in the life and health insurance marketplace.”
Ms. Robleto replaces Mary Beth Senkewicz who is leaving the Office to pursue other opportunities. Ms. Senkewicz served in the role as the Deputy Insurance Commissioner since August 2007, and is a nationally recognized expert on health care and senior policy issues.
Ms. Robleto has 25 years of professional management experience, most recently as the Director of the Division of State Group Insurance for the Florida Department of Management Services. She has served as the executive director of the Florida Comprehensive Health Association (FCHA) from 2001 to 2007, as Special Assistant to the Executive Director of the Florida Residential Property and Casualty Joint Underwriting Association (the forerunner to Citizens Property Insurance Corporation), and as a Director in various positions with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware. Ms. Robleto has a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Texas A&M University, and a B.A. in Sociology/Business from Louisiana Tech University.
As the Deputy Insurance Commissioner for Life and Health, Ms. Robleto will oversee the daily activities of the Life and Health Product Review and Life and Health Financial Oversight Units, which provide oversight and services to insurers operating in Florida including life and health form and rate filings, licensure, and financial solvency. Ms. Robleto’s first day at the Office will be Monday, October 31.
