  • Florida Surplus Lines Service Office (“FSLSO”) National Clearinghouse Committee meeting; 10:00 a.m.  Agenda includes issues pertaining to the proposed national surplus lines tax clearinghouse.  To view the meeting notice, click here.
  • Surplus Lines Insurance Multi-State Compliance Compact (“SLIMPACT”) Commission meeting; 2:00 p.m.  Webinar venue.  Agenda includes proposed by-law amendments and various start-up items.
  • Auto Insurance Fraud Summit (Miami, Florida); 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Public forum on automobile insurance fraud.  Expected to attend are representatives of Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater’s office, the OIR, National Insurance Crime Bureau and Florida legislators.

Friday, October 14

  • Florida Division of Workers’ Compensation (“DWC”) Proposed Rule Hearing; 2:00 p.m.  To view the hearing notice, click here.
    • 69L-5.205:  Loss Data Reporting
      • Proposed amendments would clarify that former self-insurers must report loss data for the final period of authorization only once.
    • 69L-5.217:  Civil Penalties and Fines
      • Proposed amendments would reduce penalties assessed against a self-insurer for late filing of required forms, reports and documents, and also recalculate penalties previously assessed against a self-insurer.  If a self-insurer has already paid the penalty to the Florida Department of Financial Services (“DFS”), the difference between the penalty paid and the new reduced penalty will be refunded, unless the self-insurer owes any outstanding, unpaid penalties to the DFS.

    • Proposed amendments to the following Rules would incorporate changes in Chapter 2011-123, L.O.F., which extends the period for which tax credits authorized under the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program may be taken from three years to five years; eliminates the 75 percent limitation on the corporate income tax and insurance premium tax credits; and allows taxpayers who have previously rescinded a tax credit more than once to obtain approval to rescind an outstanding tax credit.  To view the hearing notice, click here.
